Privacy Policy
Effective November 4, 2026
The forward deployed engineer community at fdeofny.com, fdeofsf.com, and fdeoflondon.com (the “Community”) is operated by Sideko, Inc., doing business as Port of Context (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. It covers the Community’s websites, forms, events, email, and Slack workspace.
What we collect and why
What you give us. Our forms ask for your name, email address, company, role, and anything you choose to tell us. Event registration may also ask for your job title and LinkedIn profile. If you apply to speak, we keep your proposal. If you ask about hiring, we keep the details of the role.
What we record automatically. When you submit a form we record the page you used. If you arrived from a tagged link or ad, we also record the campaign, the ad click identifier, and the referring page.
We store this information in Attio, our customer relationship management system. We use it to send event invitations and community updates, review event and speaker requests, run the community Slack, follow up on hiring inquiries, and understand how people find the Community.
Who sees your information
We do not share names. Member names, employers, and contact details are never shared with employers, event hosts, sponsors, or recruiters without your explicit consent. Sponsors and hosts receive aggregate numbers only, such as headcount, company mix, and role mix. If a venue requires a guest list for building security, we will tell you when you register and share only what the venue requires for entry.
Our operator. Port of Context, the trade name of Sideko, Inc., operates the Community and sometimes sponsors its events. It holds member information because it is the operator, and this policy applies to that information.
Other members. Your profile and messages in the community Slack are visible to other members, and those members may include people who hire. Choose what you put there accordingly.
Service providers. We use vendors to run the Community, including Attio (member records), Vercel (website hosting and analytics), Luma (event registration), and Slack (community workspace). Luma and Slack also handle your information under their own privacy policies when you use them directly.
Advisors and legal requests. We may share information with our lawyers and accountants, and when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or that it is needed to protect people’s safety.
We do not sell personal information.
Change of control
Member data may be transferred to a successor entity if the Community or Sideko, Inc., the company that operates it, is sold, merged, or reorganized.
Surveys
Responses to community surveys, including surveys about compensation and tooling, are published only in anonymized aggregate. Sponsors see aggregates only.
Every marketing or community email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests. You can also email privacy@portofcontext.com to unsubscribe. Our emails identify Sideko, Inc., doing business as Port of Context, 85 Broad Street, Floor 17, New York, NY 10004, as the sender.
Events
Attendance at Community events may be photographed or recorded, and we may use those images and recordings on our websites, social media, and event materials. You can opt out at the door. To have an image of you removed from our channels afterward, email privacy@portofcontext.com. Events follow our code of conduct.
Cookies and analytics
We set one first-party cookie, fde_attr, only when you arrive from a tagged link or ad. It records that first visit so we can attach it to any form you submit, and it expires after 90 days. Vercel Web Analytics gives us traffic statistics without using cookies. Our sites do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because there is no common standard for them.
Retention
We keep your information while you are part of the Community and until you ask us to delete it or we no longer need it. We may keep what the law requires and a record of unsubscribe requests, so that we can continue to honor them.
Your choices and deletion
To access, correct, or delete your information, email privacy@portofcontext.com from the address you signed up with.
UK and EEA members
If UK or EU data protection law applies to you, Sideko, Inc. is the controller of your information, which we process in the United States. We rely on your consent and our legitimate interest in running the Community. You also have the right to object to our use of your information and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes.
